About the Artist

Pamela Nichols is an award-winning American artist in Pensacola, Florida.  Pamela paints primarily figurative and portraits in oil.   She has studied with several of the finest artists in the United States:  Romel de la Torre (2015); Mary Rochelle Burnham (2015); Chris Saper (2015); Johanna Harmon (2016,2017); Quang Ho (2016); Daniel Gerhartz (2016, 2017); Michelle Dunaway (2018); Suchitra Bhosle (2018).

When painting a portrait, Pamela strives to achieve a realistic likeness of the subject, while aspiring to portray the essence of the person's spirit and character.  This is accomplished with a combination of live sittings and photographs, which she prefers to take herself so as to control the lighting, angles, and surrounding elements.  She interviews the subject, or in some cases loved ones, to gain any insight that might contribute to an effective representation of the person into whose eyes she will be peering for hours on end.  Thus far, she has found that there is beauty in any face.  With each portrait, she has come to know another human being and looked for the very best of that person.  It's a 'win/win" exercise!
